Spring 2020 Tryouts
Tryouts for AAA and Majors Divisions are on February 29th at the Stoddert Elementary School GymUpdatedMonday February 10, 2020 byPaul McKay.
Tryouts for AAA and Majors Divisions are on February 29th at the Stoddert Elementary School Gym. Only registered players are eligible to attend; no walk-up registrants will be admitted. NO CLEATS OR SPIKES OR BOOTS - GYM SHOES ONLY.
The purpose of the tryouts is for coaches and League officials to assess players’ abilities and support the drafting of balanced, competitive teams across divisions.
As such, all players are required to attend; if your child is unable to do so, please contact the Majors division Commissioner (email@example.com).
Players who cannot attend tryouts will be assessed on their previous coaches’ assessment. There are no makeup dates for missed tryouts. All registered players are rostered on teams. If your player misses tryouts, he/she will be rostered on a team.
All Little League-aged 12 year olds (YOs) play in Majors and all 9 YOs play in AAA. 10 and 11 YOs will be assigned to AAA or Majors depending on tryout results. Once a player has played in Majors, that player is ineligible for AAA. All registered players are assigned to teams. No players are cut. Tryout results are strictly confidential.
Saturday, February 29th
When registration closes, we will send out specific tryout times. We divide players alphabetically by last name. We expect that players with last names beginning with A through Q will work out in the morning and players with last names beginning with R through Z will work out in the afternoon.
We will post final work out times on the website after registration closes on February 14th.
What to Expect:
On the day of the tryout, the League organizes a series of brief drills, each of which pertains to a critical baseball skill (i.e., fielding, throwing, batting, sprinting, and pitching). Coaches observe players as they complete the drills and rate each player, assessing the player’s abilities
Parents and other guests/siblings are not permitted to observe. You may wait in the entrance area of Stoddert ES or outside the building.
Players may leave with their parent/guardian after their work out concludes. Players must leave the rec center with a parent/guardian.
